the other day, i told the receptionist at CNBC that fadzly was serving ns in the police. and she was like police? aiya.. not so macho. and etc. which well, is generally what people think of the police and the civil defense.

however! i have something to say!

true, going to the army for NS sounds like a much more "macho" enlistment... BUT!

do any of the army boys actually do any protecting when they are released?

with the good relationship between singapore and other countries, i highly doubt. even if there was a terrorist attack, who is sent in? the police. they cordon the area off and are now given warrents to arrest anyone suspicious. who works out plans to catch these terrorists? the police man (pun!)...

NOT the army!

policemen and civil defense people deal with real danger everyday. army boys just sit at home waiting for war to happen. which probably isnt going to for a long long time.

policemen stop that annoying neighbour from singing karaoke at ungodly hours. policemen help you catch people who steal your phone/wallet/car and people who drink drive, or take drugs or abuse people and people who murder the innocent. i tell you, policemen deserve some credit!

and yes, of course im writing this because fadzly is in the police and as his girlfriend i would want to be in his defense, but you can't tell me im wrong can you?

even if you can state an incident where the army was despatched, what was it? one, two incidents?

policemen are putting criminals to jail everyday, helping bring justice to families who have suffered an unfair and unfortunate loss and helping drug abusers get out of the habit (by sending them to jail).

i say, say hello to the nearest policeman today! hahaha.

sorry that i only mention what the policemen do because im not so sure what the civil defense do. haha. i know they have medics and firemen are under civil defense. anybody know something, feel free to correct me if ive filed a task under the wrong job.

ps:/ i know policemen can do pretty boring jobs like standing around in a bank or bringing money from the atm or standing at the airport with a gun. but hey, it's still ACTUAL protecting of some sort of premise/article.
